Preparing Yourself

Robert Kiyosaki describes our third and most important concept very well in his book 'Rich Dad Poor Dad, - 'don't do anything for the money you will make, but instead for the skills you will learn.'

Every good business book out there will tell you to not concentrate on the money. That is just the scorecard. Concentrating on the money is like a horse with blinders on. Not only will it become drudgery, but you will miss out on opportunities you otherwise would have seen.

I've wanted to build excellent websites for years, but I didn't want to simply put together the same thing everyone else was doing. I was stumped until one of my tax clients asked me if there was one place where they could go to find out all the basic business information they needed in terms they could understand. I had no idea. I went searching. I found plenty of stuff for network marketing (both good and bad). I found bits and pieces for brick-and-mortar businesses, but nothing comprehensive. So, the business plan for this site was born. I would write about what you need to know to start a business.

In our first business course, Basic Business Concepts, I ran my business through the same process and knew that it was viable and would make money. I then forgot about the money or how soon I would have it. I proceeded to gain the skills and knowledge necessary to write these courses to answer that initial question. What I have learned in the process is amazing. What I have yet to learn in the future, I'm looking forward to.
